TG Builders’ Merchants Supports School’s Sensory Garden Project in Northwich

Children at Lostock Gralam Primary School in Northwich are getting the chance to bring their garden dreams to life, thanks to a £500 donation of materials from the local TG Builders’ Merchants branch.

As part of a new community competition, pupils have been invited to design their very own sensory garden, with the winning entry brought to life using materials donated by TG Builders’ Merchants.

A Creative Project With a Lasting Impact

The garden design project forms part of a homework assignment, where children can work independently or with help from family and friends. Designs can be submitted in any format—from hand-drawn layouts to physical models made from plasticine, clay, or papier-mâché.

“We’re thrilled to support the pupils at Lostock Gralam,” said Phil Brown, Branch Manager at TG Builders’ Merchants Northwich.
“It’s a fantastic way for children to engage with the outdoors, learn about sustainability, and help shape a space that the whole school can enjoy.”

Prizes and Community Involvement

The winner of the competition will receive:

  • An Amazon Fire Tablet

  • A professional art set

  • Plus £500 worth of building materials to create their dream garden

Two runners-up will also receive art sets. All entries will be displayed at the TG Builders’ Merchants Northwich branch on Manchester Road during the launch weekend of the new TG Doors, Windows & Floors and TG Dream Patios showrooms on April 8–9.

Supporting Education and Sustainability

Teacher Sam Shimmin welcomed the support from TG Group and said the children were excited to take part.

“Our goal is to create a sustainable garden that produces fruit and vegetables for local families, along with a sensory area for pupils with additional needs.

We’ll also be encouraging more wildlife with hedgehog homes, bird boxes, bug hotels, and even a greenhouse built from recycled plastic bottles.”

Making a Difference in the Local Community

TG Builders’ Merchants sees the project as part of its ongoing commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.

“We believe businesses should support the communities they work in. This project will benefit pupils, families, and wildlife for years to come,” added Phil Brown.
